I always sorta thought it was without a total pattern (the scale changes probably didn’t help), but there were SOME patterns, whether intentional or not. For example, I always gave the sales pitch on the game to new players by highlighting the fact that some of the best all-around and representative units in the game were the cheapest and easiest to acquire. Think Pz 4’s and Shermans; very cheap, very common on the real battlefields. The more niche obscure (from the US side of the puddle, at least) units were more expensive, regardless of actual game power (the 7tp sucks, but its rare, expensive, and I want one lol). So I felt like some of the rarity patterns were centered around ease of getting a workable starting force built, then fleshing out with rare/uncommon armor and support units, or to expand into earlier or later periods of the war. My 2 cents, gents.
I think: 1: No, I think to dismount, you must be able to move, but I don’t think it counts as a move. Sort of like dismounting doesn’t (if I recall) provoke defensive fire. 2: I think using him as a spotter would restrict him from moving. 3: I think that would work. A bit outside the “spirit” of the rules, but I don’t recall anything that would stop you.
I don’t have rules in front of me, but that’s how I see it. Would like to see a more seasoned player’s response.
Ober, I’ve had some rough luck with gloopy paint jobs on the NA set Stug III’s just in singles market, let alone factory rejects. Have some of these B-grade minis ended up,in the singles market? And sorry to hear about your Kondors. Did anyone else have gloopy paint jobs on the panzer III N commander? I got one that was painted pretty lame once.. anyway, I went ahead and ordered the Guards Infantry set! They make good targets, curtm1911 . I’d play russians once in awhile if my pals would let me, it I usually end up being the other bad guys to the west
I’ve been looking for more Guards Infantry and Siberian Shock Troops to flesh out my Russian options, and noticed that 2 Chinese sellers (using the same photos) are selling just 10 Guards Infantry pieces for maybe 6 dollars. Seems to be several lots as well. I wanted at least one, but I’m not sure I trust it. The description says 10 randomly selected units, while the title specifies 10pc of #19 Counter-Offensive (or something to that effect). Anyone ever buy from maxtoyshops on eBay?
Hey guys! I am starting to see some response to this game in the Hermann, MO area and have two fellers coming over tomorrow for a game. One has played once and is ready to get into the action, the other has no experience whatsoever. I plan on doing a very short demo with them using the basic rules (will add expanded rules later), but then I’d like to referee a more full game for them. Is there a scenario out there that you’d recommend for a couple of newbies? Thanks!
I like what I’ve seen of the system! I am hoping to get my foot in the door and I can add/supplement later once I’ve gotten a few ‘official’ matches under my belt.
Hello! I have attempted to love WaS, but I’m learning naval action just isn’t for me. A local group has picked up Bolt Action and I would love to get into that. I am not picky about which army, really, but I do prefer painted. I will consider unpainted stuff, though. I’d like to move this stuff as a lot, but if there are no takers, I’ll consider parting it out. I may be open to “+cash” offers. I have the following:
Art stores sell black tubes for paintings and such. I use those for AAM. Roll em up. I cover em with plexiglass for my two-map scenarios, so the curl isn’t a problem. Since they’re laminated anyway, just rolling them the opposite way of the curl usually fixes them if plexiglass isn’t an option. Have 3-4 tubes of maps organized my set.
I was looking for the B-17 card, but none of the photos are working and don’t know if anyone has one. If it’s not too much bother, would somebody mind sending me the card image in a PM, please?
It’s spotty for me and my friends. Fielding trucks is great to move arty and 88s around. We’ve also seen success using them to funnel in reserves quickly or to relocate troops on a part of the field where you’re decidedly winning and moving them to a sector that you’re getting whipped. The trouble is their super soft skin. That leads me to favor the halftrack transports. But using the Opel trucks or Bedfords can be handle if there is sufficient cover to keep them out of sight. And definitely make sure the enemy has no aircraft or a juicier target than your truck if they do.
