Just need to ER 5 it with a Iowa class BB. That levels the field nicely. The allies have their cheese units too if we want to get into air units. It would be an interesting experiment to recost the units to what they should be to make more units playable in the game.
Maybe that’s a good project for the team developers since we really are starting to run out of major ships.
Ever since I opened my first starter set way back in 2014 nearly 7 years ago, the Haguro has been a personal favorite ship of mine. Aside from liking the aesthetic of the Myoko class, the Haguro in-game is peerless within the IJN. Her stats for their cost are just insane, and this isn't news to anyone. However, in trying to create lists that have variety for IJN builds, I struggle to make one that involves any of the other heavy cruisers aside from highly specialized units like Tone or Chikuma. Is the Haguro too overpowered in your view? I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts.
Has anyone attempted to modify W@S rules to incorporate modern ships? In reflecting on it I think a lot of what W@S does well would especially be transferable into a modern naval wargame, so I was curious if anyone out there had taken a stab at it yet.
I'm looking for a nice set of brushes to paint my minis with, and was wondering what other people here used and recommended. Really looking for stuff that can get the fine detailing done. Thanks!
I got into the game in 2014. At the time, I remember thinking $30 for one of the rarer ships was too high, with $50 for a Kaga or San Francisco being extortion. Now ships are regularly going for near to over $100. Crazy.
Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a good day.
I'm trying to print some 3D models of ships I have on Shapeways, but it is now telling me that the models have been halted in production because some of their parts are apparently too thin. Now it does give me the option to print anyway, with the risk that the models will not come out as designed, but I've purchased from there before from accounts like Tinythingamejigs and he definitely had parts on his that would be equally thin and "at risk". I guess what I'm asking is what are the chances that if I proceed with the print anyway option my ships will come out ok. Any help is incredibly appreciated. Thanks!
It depends a lot on the material you use and also the amount that those thin parts protrude.
Unfortunately it also depends on the person who actually looks at your file on their side before sending it to the printer. I have had ships print fine and then I'll upload a slightly different version and it will fail the pre-production check in spite of the fact that it has printed fine in the past. There is a specific set of criteria they use and a more skilled technician will know when they can fudge away from those exact numbers using their best judgement.
I sell on Shapeways and sometimes I'll get an email complaining about thin walls or whatever. For a while I would just re-submit the exact same file and it would go through. Now I just cancel since Shapeways is grossly overpriced and customers can get my models at a better quality and price from XPForge or Blitzkrieg Miniatures.
If you are just printing for yourself, use your best judgment and select "print anyway".
Thanks for the quick reply! I went ahead and said "print anyway", we'll see how they come out. I suspect they'll be fine but we'll see. They're WWI British dreadnoughts in 1/1800 scale so I'll probably have pictures here if anyone is interested.

I backed it. I uploaded the test STL to shapeways to see how much it was and it was $6.5 in WSF 1/1800 and 13 in FUD 1/1800. Really excited to finally have WW1 naval minis in the same scale as my war at sea.
