Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a good day.
I'm trying to print some 3D models of ships I have on Shapeways, but it is now telling me that the models have been halted in production because some of their parts are apparently too thin. Now it does give me the option to print anyway, with the risk that the models will not come out as designed, but I've purchased from there before from accounts like Tinythingamejigs and he definitely had parts on his that would be equally thin and "at risk". I guess what I'm asking is what are the chances that if I proceed with the print anyway option my ships will come out ok. Any help is incredibly appreciated. Thanks!

It depends a lot on the material you use and also the amount that those thin parts protrude.
Unfortunately it also depends on the person who actually looks at your file on their side before sending it to the printer. I have had ships print fine and then I'll upload a slightly different version and it will fail the pre-production check in spite of the fact that it has printed fine in the past. There is a specific set of criteria they use and a more skilled technician will know when they can fudge away from those exact numbers using their best judgement.
I sell on Shapeways and sometimes I'll get an email complaining about thin walls or whatever. For a while I would just re-submit the exact same file and it would go through. Now I just cancel since Shapeways is grossly overpriced and customers can get my models at a better quality and price from XPForge or Blitzkrieg Miniatures.
If you are just printing for yourself, use your best judgment and select "print anyway".

Thanks for the quick reply! I went ahead and said "print anyway", we'll see how they come out. I suspect they'll be fine but we'll see. They're WWI British dreadnoughts in 1/1800 scale so I'll probably have pictures here if anyone is interested.
My 1/1800 scale Commandant Teste got rejected by them yesterday. I've had that model up for sale for over 5 years now. Like ghukek said, it is up to the person that sets up the print batches.
