Hi everyone, hope you’re all well! I haven’t posted on here in a while but was checking out how things were on the forums since I picked up a few minis I still didn’t have off of Facebook and had wanted since getting into the game. Which led me to think back to 2014 which was ten years ago….
Ten years ago. It doesn’t feel real. The game had been out of production for a few years by that point but I bought my first boosters (flank speed) off of Amazon for $10 a pop. Miniature Market still sold booster packs and cases of W@S! I remember pouring over the set lists and thinking of how many ships there were to collect and how many I wanted.
Now I’ve collected all I’ll ever need for my personal interest, I still don’t have claim to “one of everything” and I’m not sure I ever will given how expensive some of the outstanding pieces I’m missing are and that there are some I just really have no interest in besides saying “I have every War at Sea miniature ever made”.
But these days this game just seems to be disappearing from the world. It’s been a few years since Miniature Market ran out of individual minis to sell altogether (which use to be my primary way of getting them) and prices continue to go up and up on what is left. There’s some boosters left for sale on eBay but they’re ridiculously expensive and one day they will all finally be opened. The forum on the bright side seems to still have some life in it and it’s been fun reading what people are talking about and getting caught up.
I know all this amounts to is a bunch of rambling but it all feels very bittersweet to me. To close on a positive note, this community has always been so great to me and even though I haven’t been active in a while I appreciate all of you. Thank you!
