Man, I'm really bummed! I SOOOO want to do this, especially after Greg Smorey had to cancel the Spring Gathering due to COVID-19. Not sure I'll be able to though; last week before end of school, so I have a ton of grading and IEP Progress Reports to do. *SIGH* If only it were the week after......
It is all infantry, no lethal d-fire nor grazing. 280 pts Japan vs. 200 pts US. All Arisakas and Fanatics get Determined Charge. There are some custom cards/units for both sides.
US: Col. Edson, Marine Raiders, Gung-Ho Lt., US Army FO Japan: Gen. Kawaguchi, Type 38 75mm Field Gun, Type 97 81mm Mortar
There are scenario rules for LoS between different elevations and parts of the ridge.
There is space for up to 7 players. I expect it to go about 4 hours or maybe a little longer, depending on how smooth the on-line platform works. This is my first time running something on-line. It seems to be coming together pretty well so far. I'll try to put up pics/info on the map and general info by mid-week.
Thanks for the info Cpt!
What time is the event starting? Is anyone else signed up yet?
Thanks, everyone! Some good buying options and interesting alternatives here.
Alas, the $20 7TP is a little different than the cheaper 7TPdw, which has made my search that much trickier. (The more expensive version has the better vehicle-attack numbers, thus a better shot at taking out one of those invading Panzers.) But the 7TPdw is good, too, I’ll probably pick up a couple of those.
(I blame my mania for 7TPs on that old computer game, Panzer General, where I used them to win the Poland scenario for the Allies.)
bradbury:
Hi!
Being 50% Polish myself and a great lover of WWII, the reason I got into this game in the first place is because there are Polish units. At the time, it was only Cav and the 7tpdw, but it was enough to get me hooked. I've got a decent collection: at least 21 Cav, 17 Determined Infantry, and 15 Mausers for example. I might have an extra 7tpjw. Let me check, and I can let you know. Might take a day or two. And, no, I would ask A LOT less than $20. That's crazy!
BTW....what minis would you have available for trade? Any other Poles you're looking for?
OK, we are at an impasse during our game and thought it would be a good time to discuss the Special Ability COURAGE fielded by the Russian unit Guards Infantry.
COURAGE – This unit can move while disrupted if it moves closer to the nearest enemy unit.
We have a couple of thoughts
1- If two or more units are of equal distance from the disrupted Guards, it can choose which unit to move to.
2- If the disrupted Guards is in an adjacent hex, it can still move into an enemy occupied hex, as the same hex is the closest.
3- During Lethal Defensive or even Defensive Fire, while the unit can be destroyed, it would not stop the movement of the unit into the occupied hex.
thoughts or anything else you would like to add.
Gents: I think you're right on about #1. I also think you have #2 right...sort of; just my 2 cents, but I think that it could "attempt" to move into the nearest hex except that could possibly incur Defensive Fire. Our old AAM group (may it rest in peace!) and OutpostEagle and I never play with Lethal Defensive Fire, so I'm going to have to give #3 a little more thought. Time to consult the "Sharpeisms". If any of you old timers are lurking around, you might remember those.

I haven't played online in FOREVER, but I'd be willing to give it a go as Poland, Japan, or the Commonwealth in AAM (maybe even Finland?). How strict are the unit lists? Can I use the Polish planes from AAAF in my build?
One more thing.....since, during the COVID-19 outbreak, I'm not only working my middle school students online, but also doing homeschool with my two elementary school age daughters, I might only be able to play at night. Don't know if that's a problem.....
