Hi all!
First and foremost, I hope all of you and your families are safe and healthy!
Second, in these challenging times, we all still need a little time for R & R. As most of you know, it IS still possible to play AAM if you live in a state or area under "Lockdown" or a "Stay at Home" order. Of course, you can always play an online match. Been a while since I've done that, but it is fun! However, as the Mod of the "Scenario" board, I wanted to remind everyone of another option....solo play! I've posted this before, but as way of a reminder, here's the link to my Drop Box scan of Der Leiter's solo scenario from AAM's "golden age" in 2006. It's an oldie, but a goodie!

To follow-up, first, I know the Der Leiter scenario might be a bit dated, but I'm sure with the creativity that all of you have, you could modify it to use with any nations and/or year. A couple of other options, in the "Solo Play" thread, triggermike reminds us of an Eastern Front scenario, and Col. Maczek tells us about a book that might have some potential. Finally, don't forget about Sgt. Fury's Betio Island scenario. You can find it here: Betio Island scenario.
Happy gaming!
P.S. I think part of the Norway Campaign he was working was also designed for solo play. Check out his thread(s) in the "Scenario" room!

This is Sgt. Fury's advice when he posted the new Betio Island map (resized for 3 inch hexes):
This is a complete revamping of the original scenario made back in 2006. The map sheets have been resized to three inch hexes and all of the beach hexes have been labeled for ease of play. The scenario uses 600 points for the US side and 450 points for the Japanese side. This is the same game you see featured in my WotC/AH profile's photo gallery. If you do decide to download and play this scenario here are a few points to consider.
Because the Historicon running of this game was limited to six hours, I set the victory conditions for 7 turns. Realisticly, the allied player should be given eight to 10 turns before victory conditions are checked. You can adjust this as you please. This will really depend on your style of play.
The amount of units you can use is obviously limited to what you have in your collection. I used every obstacle I had in my collection to play out this game at Historicon. The 600 US verses 450 Japanese reflexes the numbers for an assault scenario. (4 attackers verses every 3 defenders) If you reduce the number of points you use, try to keep that ratio of forces. If you use 200-300 points for the the US side, I suggest using only maps 1 to 6. A smaller force count will make it much harder for the Japanese player to properly defend the island.
I created a tactical tips document to help out both sides with strategy and planning. If you have any questions concerning this scenario, you can post them here and I will answer them as soon as I can.

Now that takes me back almost 10 years. We printed the Betio Island map and played the scenario back in the day. Once we tired of the scenario we reused the map over and over again for other scenarios. The map was a ragged, ripped and beer stained when we finally retired it.

I've been playing games now by telephone. With flat rate long distance these days both players can set up maps with all the units and just talk a game through over the phone.
Audacity!
Every day I know less about WWII because every day I realise there is more to know!
Recently got back into AAM because I have a little more time on my hands. None of my IRL friends payed so I kinda got in the habit of solo play haha. From one of the earlier threads on solo play, I basically just play each side in its best interest and follow "No rerolls or movement fudging, by this I mean do not move into obvious kill situations," and it's a good way to pass the time!
I've also been trying to play scenarios from the old Forumini/substituting units as necessary. Played this one awhile back, I remember I didn't get too many late war battles with my Russians in back in the day haha.

Welcome to the forum halvidar! If you can do online maps, I would enjoy some AAM games anytime. I am working on learning to do online maps, but I am no techie so it is a slow process. Anyway, if you can make online maps, I am always willing to do a game. Glad to see to new Land Game blood on the forum too. Curt/curtm1911
