I agree ASW 3 stands on its own for ASW. Other than Spotter this unit would probably benefit more from a defensive SA if anything.
Coastal Cover is "okay", but the standard game maps are pretty sparse on terrain in the center of the map where most action takes place. I admit our game club uses more terrain and thus the coastal SAs have a little more use, but we design these cards for the standard rulebook games. I wouldn't be against it. I just wonder if there isn't something more useful for a unit like this. Or maybe we just leave it at Spotter and Sea Basing to keep the cost down?

The Emily is expensive. I am hoping this one ends up in the 7 pt range.
With shadowing and better defensive stats when subhunting. Emily is worth 10
I totally agree it is worth 10 points. But it is an expensive option to get a decent ASW aircraft. A swarm of Catalina's is much cheaper as a pure ASW option. The Catalina is very vulnerable, but very useful for shadowing and ASW.

Sea basing and spotter for sure. If wanting another, the darkness ability also added would maybe lean it slightly more towards night picks and therefore get the natural bit of extra protection there. On the fence with ASW 2/3.
"That's right son, join the navy. Get behind a bloody big gun and knock the hell out of somebody"
"We went out, got our arses kicked, then came back again"
Well, even if it has to go to 8 points I would prefer the 3 ASW. The Axis have very few options and it is a big disadvantage in the game. ASW 2 is mostly a "harassment" value. Actual hits from 2 dice is not very high.
I just did a sort on Hap's spreadsheet. The Allies have 12 aircraft with ASW 3 and one with ASW 4. The Axis have two aircraft with ASW 3 (Emily and Jill - both from RB.) None with ASW 4.
The Allies have 22 aircraft with ASW, the Axis have 12. Add one more for the Ar 196 (ASW 2 again).
The Forumini decks have once again tended more toward "history" than "game balance." Whichever way you prefer, this is very off balance, and definitely shows a Forumini bias compared to RB.
True, the Axis were much worse at ASW, but this is a game and there needs to be some leveling. The Pete was one of the IJN's most active ASW aircraft even if it wasn't real successful. And one of the few Japanese aircraft designed up front with a specific request for ASW capability. I think this should be 3.

Also, I think every deck should have a few "Awesome! I want to play that one!" units in the game as-long-as they are not power creepy. This deck has precious few of those IMO.

Also, the two Axis aircraft with ASW 3 are pricey (10 and 14 pts) while the Allies have seven options in the 5 to 9 price range.

Fundamentally, you cant hang a build off this unit, even at 7 points. So the idea of having swarms is hyperbole. Basic fighters or capital ships will blunt these unit very quickly if subs arent a factor

This is not an exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.
This unit would is clearly not meant to attack Capital ships which generally don't protect Subs and spreading fighters thin can be a useful tactic to reach your ultimate goal.
And as far as the deck needing something please explain the Walrus??
