These would help smoothen the summary out a little:

Maybe change the end of the first sentence to "Leipzig class" instead of "Leipzig and Nürnberg," since the subject of the sentence is focusing on class characteristics rather than particulars of a class?

The "however" beginning the final sentence is a little strong; there is a continuity between only three ships being laid down and none being completed ("however" would be more fitting if most of them were laid down). I think "and" with a comma at the end of the preceding sentence would be smoother.

Arguably "and the hulls were eventually dismantled" could be eliminated as unnecessary detail.

M-class cruisers were an attempt to design a more balanced light cruiser than the preceding Leipzig and Nürnberg. Although 1,000 tons heavier, the M-class had the same armor and weaker armament than previous light cruisers. The Kriegsmarine was still focused on building commerce raiders rather than fleet units. Combining diesel with turbine machinery was meant to provide long cruising range and short-term speed. Lack of shipyards only allowed 3 of the planned 12 ships to be started. However, construction was stopped with the start of the war and the hulls were eventually dismantled.

On this one, I know Disrupt Invasion came over from another cruiser but wouldn’t it be more accurate to say ability rather than abilities? Each ship only has one Landing ability.
