I have some and I bought a bunch for a buddy of mine who has a tighter budget than me. They're really nice, light yet sturdy. If you're on a budget or just don't want to spend $80+ for a Kaga, I highly recommend them! Just print out a stat card to go with them and you're golden. They also have a really nice range of aircraft, too!
I contacted them before I placed my order and asked them if they could put the WaS stats on them. For a few $$$ more (for the order, not per base), here's the result:
Considering the date this ship would have been commissioned (had she been commissioned), I find it hard to believe she wouldn't have the kind of AA "gun tubs" that most carriers (including Aquila) would have.
Personally, I'd like the added "Aquila details" to the basic hull form you've got, above.
+2 ...and "Good Luck" seems so unlikely to occur that it should be costed pretty much at zero. If this unit is in range of a sub and nearly any other unit is in range of that sub, that sub is going to shoot at anything else (OK, maybe not a daihatsu, kinai maru, T1 or Type 13).
For the 335, I was thinking fighter-bomber, as well, which is why I called out the A1. The ease of handling due to the engines being on the centerline and, essentially, offering no net torque coupled with incredible speed and roll-rate would have made a wicked fighter and bomber...from what I've read.
For the J7W, it's obviously an interceptor, but it seems to stand out in two ways. First, it was allegedly going to be very nimble/maneuverable...different from many interceptors...so maybe effective against bombers and fighters. Second, the sheer amount of firepower from 4 30mm cannons seems like something worthy of attention.
I noticed the old forumini is closing and here is the new home. Sadly I haven't saved most of my old photos of WAS gallery. So a reboot is needed.
Havn't touched my WAS miniatures for almost a whole and half year, finally, I have time to "back to WAS" stuff and got my another Hiryu done. This time, the Hiryu is in WSF.
I use Tamiya XF-75 Kure Arsenal IJN colour to paint the main hull, and Vallejo AV paints for lines and the red sun.
Obviously, the surface is not as smooth as FD. However, even the FUD material will become warp in a year or two. So at the moment WSF material is my preferred material.
Another view.
FD Hiryu (back) with WSF Hiryu (front).
Now the six famous "Pearl Harbour Attack" carriers.
Stay tuned, and soon I will upload more works!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Admiral Ting,
Nice work. WSF is always more difficult for me, but you've done a nice job with it.
Is anyone else able to see these pictures directly? They don't show for me. I have to "right-click" and "Open image in a new tab" to view them. Just me or???
I was going to go with "Not_Awesome_Pirate_Ninja_Master", but thought it might be too derivative. Decided to stick with my old name.
BTW, are we able to copy threads from the old boards in some way or do things need to be rebuilt? I'm specifically referring to Shin's AAR thread(s). Whenever I've been away from playing for a while, I read through some of his AARs to get my blood pumping and motivated to get back into playing and painting my Shapeways backlog.
