Both planes have Great Agility and the same Armor stats, so this really comes down to this:
Does Escort + MG 1 = Area Defense + MG 2?
To me, Area Defense is cool, but like CAP, it can be pinned by an opposing aircraft. If you have a little bit of a placement advantage, it can work in your favor, but in practice I've only used Area Defense and CAP rarely. It just doesn't come up much. On the other hand, Escort is a strong SA, and is very efficient on inexpensive fighters that do little else other than escort bombers. They tend to not to get shot at because the bombers draw all the fire.
Personally, I see the MS.406 as a 4 pointer. Not trying to give my buddy Brigs a hard time (I'm glad we're doing this card, and fighters on the low end of the cost spectrum are hard to get right (thanks P-40!)). Just trying to motivate a little discussion!
Ah my French Boulder Remove Aera Defense SA at 4 pts or put it at 5pts, it wasn't superior but inferior to french MB.151 (already existing at 5pts under greek colors, which have the same stats and similar SAs)
Brigs, I know we talked a bit about the Malta class CV on the old board, but we might want to think about the Audacious class before going there. More of an intermediate step, and if we don't consider what it might look like, Malta could squeeze it out.
