If you want a specific ship or plane and don't mind trying your hand at painting, go to Shapeways.com for 3D printed units. Most are as nice or nicer than the WotC minis. Search on 1/1800 shipname or 1/900 planename.
Having all the ships, all the cards, hundreds of Shapeways, and no way to expand, did the only thing I could do. Started buying and assembling 1/700 Waterline scale minis. I'm gonna need a bigger map...
I meant to post this earlier, apologies. Miniature Market has the 2010 starter on sale today for $9.00. Great way to pick up extra rulebooks, mats, and, or course, lil plastic ships.
As long as they are useful, I am fine. Unique(fantasy) are preferred over variants of the same. Keeps the sculptors employed, and neat 'what if' possibilities open.
I asked about that. The decks cost $11 each, and they couldn’t possibly sell them for free shipping given that there is zero profit on the cards (to avoid a lawsuit from Wizards). The cost on the website is a flat shipping fee plus $1.75 per extra card set. The system they have is not optimized for heavy cards since the core business is to ship light plastic and that’s how they are collecting for shipping.
Posted to FB, but may get better reply here. If the decks are $11 ea, why are three $44? Is that shipping? Confusing as the cart then shows 'Free Shipping'.
Hard call for me between the IJN and Germany, but I had to go with the KM. German ships just have a certain, 'mean/beautiful' look to them. Would have loved if the US had kept the Prinz Eugen for a museum ship instead of target practice for an A-bomb.
Shapeways offers a large selection of ships, though there are no cards and you will have to paint them yourself. Other than that, Miniature Market or the Market subforum.
I quite dislike Troll & Toad. Some years ago I bought 12 'sealed' boosters of MonPoc from them. When they arrived, I could tell the had been opened, as they were repackaged with tissue paper (PP always used plastic) and the box was resealed with Elmers. In addition, each booster had been cherry picked, as out of 12 boosters, I received 2 unique rares, 8 of 1 and four of the other. The commons and uncommons were similarly alike. Both rares were the 'worst' rares to be had. When I complained, they told me to go to PP, despite the game being OOP for months. They ignored the pictures I sent as proof that the internals were repackaged.
