Refitted to minelayer, sortied with force z, was release and attack by japanese aircraft on the way, escape. Fought in the dutch east indies, finally sunk by the indian ocean raid.
Yeah, I had Tenedos listed along with Thanet & Stronghold. All took part in actions around that time (with similar fates) but for me they would be down the pecking order behind the other old DDs mentioned. I think if we were looking at a minelaying DD then one of the more modern unrepresented classes could be an option but again would be up against all the other DD choices. Talking of mines, I'm on the fence with Adventure. I know we already have one of the class but Abdiel had a devastatingly successful lay/kill rate, very much the italian destroyer slayer and the SA suite could be interesting and varied. I'm surprised that didn't get done originally instead of Manxman.
"That's right son, join the navy. Get behind a bloody big gun and knock the hell out of somebody"
"We went out, got our arses kicked, then came back again"
Its on a pencilled in list, so just trying to populate and tinker for discussion and brainstorming's sake.
The UK aren't aching for new minelayer with manxman, sunderland and rorqual. So an exclusive minelayer is going to feel a bit meh Adventure as mines, mine leader + repair is a bit more unique i though
USN tender : USS Jamestown; PT boat tender(solomons campaign) - gives torpedo boats concealment from aircraft.
IJN Tender: I15, japanese sub with onboard seaplane. Also refueled flying boat during operation K
Will try and dig others out to throw in with these. Japan could still get a dedicated tender along with the sub. Anybody know any good seaplane tenders?
There were a bunch that were used in the early campaigns, as amphibious attack commandships or transports. They're just not that useful tactically, if youve already got access to proper carriers.
I'm thinking the ijn could get the Battlecruisee Amagi as a carrier. How we'd clearly define it with the existing amagi and the unryu class is the obstacle.
I swapped the shinano for an A150 to pair with a second montana for max sexiness but i thin it should go back to shinano, and swap ohio for the unfinished kentucky?
So we'd have a unfinished fast bb each, and a big carrier. Oklahoma and Shin'yo sorta balance to. Shin'yo i think is its own thing an amagi swap wouldn't satisfy (jade and shinyo are cousin-ships?)
I think as a rule, projected ships (ie Hiragara) are a option of last resort.
I think the italian's probably end up with a carricolio. Unless, the source someone had for a third pair of littorios can be verified. I'd be especially inclined to this second option if they expected a DP secondary (bristling with guns, no terts probable +1 aa). That plus radar would be a level of effectiveness over the first 4 that would justify leaning on a "projected" ship.
- Armstrong Whitley first flew on 1936 - Named after a suburb in Coventry where the Armstrong Whitworth plant was located - The Mark V was most produced with 1466 - First 8 months of the war 4 Group was dropping leaflets over German cities as bombing them was not authorized - Was part of the first raid on Berlin - January 1941 Operation Colossus when Whitleys converted for paratrooper use (they could hold 6 and the bomb racks were used to drop the paratrooper's equipment) - Was in service till 1943 where they would then be assigned as trainers and test beds. At some point being installed with rocket pods to test take-off assistance for aircraft weighing 30,000-80,000lbs - BOAC used them as freighters stripping everything so they could fly to Malta - Mk V & Mk VII were used in Nov 1940 by Coastal Command and removed in 1943 to be replaced by Vickers Wellingtons. The Mk VII were designed for Coastal Command extending fuel range and adding Air-to-Surface radar "4 distinctive stickleback dorsal radar masts" as mentioned in pg 78

Tinythingamajigs does have an Abdiel miniature in his shop. I saw earlier discussion how so many minis don't have cards and vice versa.

Is there a reason behind USA getting a jet? Would it be as powerful as the Meteor and Me 262? Isn't USA airpower in the game OP already.
As for Canada my home nation I am down for anything. Could choose any ship. Some fan made decks from Brigman are HMCS Athabaskan, HMCS St. Francis. SWO_Daddy made HMCS Ottawa (G Class), Frozen Seas HMCS Iroqouis. On the old Forumini, I know there is a card for HMCS Huron, rest of the River Class destroyers, some corvettes and frigates, all UK planes are just copy and pasted with Canadian Maple Leaf on it.
Would there ever be in consideration for us to have a Commander or in the future? The old Admirals we had one and, rest of the minor nations had Admirals and Commanders.
Interesting option. Keen to hear any additional naval sspecific details
The P80 is inferior to the 262/meteor. Its something different.
Canada's problem is in a lack of substantive units (imo) to build fleets around. They could get a commander if a suitable tactical leader was identified.
At any rate. This isn't an offical list, just an exercise in seeing what is possible

Took a bit of researching on Google but I found on Classic warbirds what armament load out for the Coastal Command version. 5 depth charges. During the time used in Coastal Command Whitleys sank 6 submarines. Whitleys were also used in dropping commandos, secret agents, supplies for Resistance members, glider tug training and, dropping pigeons in Europe??!
