Even 30 points isn't enough for something that powerful. With a 1944 date I will never play a game beyond 1943 again. I already don't play 1945. How far do we want to take the Allies overwhelming strength by the end of the war? It is historical, but destructive for the game IMO.
Flag 2, ET, TD 28 points. The Flag 2 provides the differentiation well enough IMO.

I've certainly been giving my 2 cents about this unit and that proposal is good and plenty.
The japanese have a big fleet carrier in this deck. I guess we could give both the big 3. The ijn hasnt had one since the set 1 Akagi iirc
It's not just balancing them against the Japanese fleets, the European powers just can't handle air power of that magnitude... it's a borderline(?) problem already.
I'm pretty easy on this but just to say currently using Swizz's card for this with a tanker ability on it, affecting destroyers. Something different and thought I'd mention it.
As for class cost I think I have them spread from about 28-34, different decked cards.

I can't think of a reasonable cost. American aircraft are already overstat with 9 vital Avengers, Helldivers, and Super Corsairs with a 9AA and 9 bomb native attack. There just really isn't a way to boost those without taking them out of the reasonable range of most game stats. The best the IJN has is the Sam that we incorrectly (very much my fault too) only gave an 8 AA and is nearly useless with a 1945 date anyway. And we over-cost the Grace by a point (a very big point), and it is still not nearly as deadly as the USN Corsair IMO. Giving the IJN a carrier with all three boosts would just get them a little more competitive with the late war USN, but still not there. USN aircraft don't need an expert SA to be deadly. Early war the USN and IJN are more balanced, maybe even slightly in favor of the IJN, but the spread is nothing like the power gap late war. As for the Fleet Air Arm, they are really only competitive if they use US "lend-lease" aircraft. The RAF and RN really dropped the ball on carrier aircraft development.
USS Midway should have had a cost of 51. No less. So I personally think it is impossible for us to make an Essex class that isn't broken is some way. I am just trying to keep the "brokenness" to a dull roar.

Can you copy over Swizzle's tanker SA?

Its not letting me copy and paste the ability for some reason, just picking up the card image, so I've just copied the whole card and its pasted the link.
Bunker Hill was really the mold breaker here - 27 points for an Essex-class with EDF and EB was too low, but its there. I can see reasons to take a Flag 2 Essex sister with ET, but it will be pretty niche with the other competition out there (Intrepid, Essex, and Bunker Hill are all pretty nasty at their respective costs). Personally, I'd probably live without the Flag and just use Intrepid in most games, but I can see the 28 point, ET, Flag 2 version.
Having read a bit about USS Hancock's history, I'm struggling to come up with much else. Her operational history is much like many of her sisters. Wish I had something new and different to offer, but I'm at a loss.
