I disagree, the last things the US needs is another Cap4 Carrier giving already powerful planes even more Expert SAs.

I would prefer to see:

AirField Strike: Once per game, you can deploy a Fighter to your opponent's land airbase during the air mission phase. That Fighter can make an Antiair attack against one enemy aircraft deployed at the base



Installation Strike: Once per turn, when a friendly Dive Bomber damages and enemy Installation, that Installation gets -1 on each attack die when making Gunnery attack rolls this turn

Especially since we are seeing more and more installations available.

 If we look at the USN fleet of Essex's what have you got ?

       2 with EB-- 2 with EDF and 1 with ET along with your everyday Installation and Airfield Strike

Only 1 has a double expert ability;

     I think if your looking to add an Essex your better off with diversity than just over powering the game with a 3 expert  4 cap cv.

 The USN in the game and rightly so is not a big Torpedo giant, but if any Carriers gave them credence it was the Essex's especially at Leyte;

Just ask MUSASHI;;    A ET and EFD with Torpedo defense gives you clean non redundant Essex with added simple fleet build SA options.


  Can't understand why Hancock 4 battles stars and some how was there, but missed most of the fighting at Leyte Gulf

Give it one of either ED1, EB, or ET

And Installation Strike

Perfect middle ground, both camps get what they want

NO;;    Actually after being transferred from Task Force 38.2 to 38.1 Halsey sent 38.1 back to Ulithi to rearm [Hancock/ Wasp and Hornet] they did not make it back in time to stop Kurita's escape. 
  Halsey only had 4 Essex class to fight in the Sibuyan Sea and Cape Engano-- Intrepid/Essex/Lexington/Franklin/ along with the Iconic Enterprise and a bunch of Independence CVL's.
Bunker Hill part of TF 38 was sent to the states for overhaul on 10/23
  Sorry for the history but as i said there are better choices.

I don't feel their is middle ground about anything or camps;;

  The forum has been doing new units for a while, know one should be stratified except the game.

 Dealing with carriers especially an Essex can have its impact.

   Redundancy in carrier SA's is for the most part is unavoidable, just make it so you can't pile on in a build,

or if your going to give an Essex 3 experts you better start thinking about 30 points.



  Its all ok it was the USN in WW2 its the game that has to live with it.
