During the course of the war, almost 3000 A-20's were deliver to the Soviet Union. Soviet pilots were generally pleased, finding it fast and reliable; able to out fly German BF-109's and remain aloft with one engine down. In Soviet Service it saw action as medium bombers, reconnaissance aircraft, ground attack aircraft, heavy night fighters, and high-speed transports. In Naval service as a torpedo bomber, it would often act in mixed strike groups. On July 6th, 1944 the German AA ship Niobe was first struck with bombs from IL-2s, then diving Pe-2s distracted the defensive AA from a wave of low fling A-20s that finished off the ship with torpedoes.

Needed be be shortened. How about this?

Almost 3,000 A-20s were delivered to the Soviet Union during WWII. Soviet pilots were generally pleased with its speed and reliability, ability to out-fly German Bf-109’s, and ability to stay aloft on one engine. The aircraft was used for reconnaissance, ground attack, high-speed transport, night fighting, and bombing. The German AA ship Niobe was attacked by a mixed strike group of Soviet aircraft on 16 July 1944. The ship was struck first with bombs from Il-2s followed by diving Pe-2s that pulled the defensive AA away from a wave of low flying naval A-20s that finished off the ship with torpedoes.
