Why is Tirpitz 1942 for year of introduction?

First I heard of this Tirpitz year issue.

I do remember long time ago of a thread about numerous War at Sea ships commission date and year on the card being different.

I think RB did that more or less as a "this is when the ship as shown was really operational."

This is the case with quite a lot of other ships, like USS Essex, which launched and commissioned by the very end of 1942, and Yamato, which was commissioned very shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, but have a 1943 and 1942 "start years," respectively.

So, is everyone good with adding an errata for the Tirpitz to 1941 based on RB's comments? I would add it to the "Forumini" add-on part, not to the original WotC Update and Clarification pages. Just above or below the Installation clarifications.

There are always delays between launching/commissioning/training/shakedown and actual deployment. For example, USS Alabama was launched August 1942, but her first actual deployment was April 1943. Her card gives her a 1942 playing date, which I would rate an errata. The Germans used the Baltic as a safe training setting. Tirpitz's first deployment to Norway was early 1942. I am happy with this date for her card.

I don't think we need to vote. Just put it on the "Add-On" and call it good
