I never heard that about the scout cruiser. I understood it to be a unsolicitrd proposal. The admirals wanted the pocket battleship but the budget didnt allow for it.
Im okay with an additional french slot. As i said somewhere above we could reasonably add one slot each to japan: cruiser? Italy: carrier, germany ? france aircraft And still have some slots in in hand
I certainly think germany needs several slots. the OTO scout crusier design was a italian design.
We have yet to do a German flak ship. I know they weren't great but that's what we are down to. I'd also be cool with a modernized WWI era ship like Bayern or Machensen.
I like Flakstruk's earlier idea for the Germans. One of their hold over battleships being returned from WWI in addition to the pre-dreadnaughts they got to keep. Since pretty much everything they had that floated is already on a card it's time to get inventive.
Another option would be Flakbatterie Niobe. Might work with a Finnish game.
German AA ships arent going to look anything like Atlanta. Theyre more like weak installations.
Ostfriedland is probably best comparable to fuso/ise/yamishiro. Bayern would be like a QE is base stats. Either sits between the ugly sisters and bismark. Depends on what the less hypothetically inclinded guys can stomach more i guess
I went looking for a KM destroyer that looks to justify an AA sa and i think i found one T24 (Elbing Class Torpedo Boat) aside from the usual bay of biscay actions. Was sunk by rocket armed beaufighter in company of the Z23. The RAF/RCAF lost 17 beaufighter in the mission according to Erich Groner. At least some to AA fire.
Whats a better pick for a navy? An unique AA6x2 barge or a close escort, aa5x2 destroyer with no class limit.
I don't disagree with the need to have something for everyone so this is completely unrelated to the current discussion but have we ever done a poll of what type of people are into the game at this point? I'm a collector so I'm still here to see every class of ship represented. It would be interesting to see if there are no more casual gamers because the entry cost has gone up or if the historically focused people have all left because so many "fictional" ships have been added.
A lot of people have left because of the decks the teams have made. Jets, Midways etc.
There's hardly anyone left and nobody cares as long as they get their poorly thought out units.
