Advanced Bomber plus Divide the Defense is an awfully deadly combo. If you bring 4 of these and an Emily, then you have 7 turns’ worth of Divide the Defense, and then you also make almost every fighter roll one less die.
vs. Essex-class with an Atlanta, Corsair defending = 3 shots at 8/no 4s and 1 shot at 8, which yields 1.8 aborts. Then you drop your bombs or torpedoes and repeat. For comparison, flying any escorted bombers into the same defense formation gives you 2.4 aborts.
Yes, Ju-88 also has Bomb 8 and 1 torpedoes, it doesn’t have Armor 5 and it doesn’t punish non-interceptors.

Remember that DtD is once per game.

I personally prefer Advanced Bomber to Divide the Defense. We gave DtD to the Nell to give it some help to survive. This bomber doesn't need that much help IMO.

Got to admit guys, I absolutely hate Advanced Bomber. Its an SA that seems almost deliberately designed to jam US fighters (none of the 8+ AA versions have interceptor), which it's history doesn't justify.
EE, Harrass from a Distance and Kamikaze would be my preference. That it dupes the jill doesnt matter cause you can use it to round out attack groups of cap3s ect.
Just not crazy about another Jill. Kamikaze on a Patrol Bomber would require some rewrite to work as well.
An 8+ AA fighter doesn't need Interceptor IMO. The USN Corsair is so broken I give it no sympathy at all.
Edit to add: Nevermind, I forgot there are actually two different suicide/kamikaze SAs. But I am not sure how useful a Kamikaze/Suicide attack would be on a patrol bomber that already has a decent 8 bomb attack without destroying the aircraft. I guess +2 to bomb might be worth it near the end of the game as a desperation move. Historically correct I guess.
True enough Weeds, but did we need to turn all the other 8+ AA fighters into a Wildcats? And the Wildcat into a Sea Hurricane?
Actually, I think we do. The Wildcat was the start of entire chain of aircraft power creep. It should never have been Vital 9. The Hellcat should have the Wildcats stats. The Wildcats, Hurricanes, and Bf-109 are all totally over-powered for their year in both armor and base AA value IMO. So that left no room for more powerful later war fighters without giving them stats that broke the game.
If you group all the aircraft in the game by year it is easy to see the units that deviate well outside the "normal range" for a given year. The stats bounce all over the place.
Anyway, I am coming around to EE and Kamikaze Attack as the only two SAs it needs. The bomb value of 8 differentiates it from the Peggy plus giving it a Kamikaze "turbo boost" bomb attack recognizes its very late war introduction.
Kamikaze Attack - This unit can make a 10 dice Bomb attack instead of a Torpedo attack during your Air Attack phase. Destroy this unit after the attack
I am not in favor at all of giving this aircraft Divide the Defense. By all accounts it was not as good as the Peggy and late to development on top of that.
