How would something like "Overload" work... increase this plane's Bomb attack by 2 on the 1st round, decrease both armor and vital armor by 1 if overload is used....... or remove the 1st round part. Just an idea that has not been tried.

I think the Teams give these units the best values they can; keeping in mind established unit like values
and add ons; as in Expert and Shadow; so i think that takes it a bit to far; even rewriting the SA to take all that into account
just muddles things. Finish Him Off was a nice way to give her a little more punch.

That's an interesting variation to consider. In this case it was a pretty lightweight (ie under-powered) aircraft and increasing the attack by 1 probably makes more sense. Reducing the armor values on a 4/7/1 aircraft leaves it pretty vulnerable. I get that is the idea because it is over weight, but game wise it won't survive most AA attacks for at least an abort. I think that would be more appropriate for the heavyweight bombers that have ridiculous armor values already (looking at you Helldiver.) Then it comes down to the "trigger." Does it trigger the first turn only, every turn (with tradeoff in lower armor), or "Once per game" without the armor penalty. First turn is easier to track, but "once per game" is more useful. The problem with "once per game" is you have to use markers to remember which aircraft used their SA (or not). As a desktop gamer I am not a fan of the need to track more stuff with markers. I realize it is easier to do online. Since the pro's and con's are pretty small, I think using the existing SA with a clear "as often as you can find it" trigger is simplest in this case. But I could go along with a boost of 1 die in exchange for the reduced armor if that is preferred.
I think it would be a variation on Fighter-Bomber...
Fighter Bomber - When you place this unit during the Air Mission phase, declare whether this unit's type will be Fighter or Dive Bomber this turn. It can make Bomb attacks only while it's a Dive Bomber. While a Dive Bomber, reduce its Armor and Vital Armor each by 1.
Bomb Overload - When you place this unit during the Air Mission phase, you may declare this unit is using Bomb Overload this turn. If you do, increase the bomb attack by +1 die, but reduce its Armor and Vital Armor each by 1.
However, this requires opening the card for additional discussion. I am not sure if people want to do that.

Given my experience with the vindicator. What might work is having something like
Disorganisation: (The first time?) When an enemy ship makes an AA attack thay equals this units vital armour. Instead of being destroyed, this unit gets an additional rearming this turn
LN 401 Maker: Loire-Nieuport Introduced: October, 1939 (Actually were LN 411's which were the same but without arresting gear and folding wings. The French Air Force decided not to use them and gave them to the Navy. The Navy received their LN 401s shortly after. A total of 60 produced. 45 LN 411s and 15 LN 401s) Wingspan: 45 ft, 11 in Length: 32 ft Speed: 240 mph at 13,000 ft Forumini Speed: 13 Service Ceiling: 31,200 ft Armament: 1 x 20 mm, 2 x 7.5 mm, 1 x 496 lb bomb or 10 x 22 lb or 33 lb bombs Range: 745 miles -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SAs[/div] Elan - The first time this unit would be destroyed, roll a die. On a 5 or higher abort this unit instead. Finish Him Off - This unit rolls one extra attack die when attacking damaged Ships.[/div][/div]
Carrier landing trials of the prototype LN.40 were conducted successfully on the aircraft carrier Bearn in 1938. The production versions were the LN.401 for the Navy and the LN.411 for the French Army. The LN.411 only differed by deleting the arresting hook and folding wings. The first aircraft were delivered to the Army in September 1939. However, the engine was under-powered, and the Army transferred their aircraft to the Navy. Two squadrons fought during the Battle of France, but they sustained heavy losses. A prototype with a more powerful engine was hidden from the Germans after the Armistice.
Per the discussion above, it was decided to make it a stat line instead of a Once Per Game SA. Simplifies things, no counters to remember if it was used, and frees up space on the card. In addition, an ASW 2 in reality would most often just cause harassment instead of damaging a sub.
Hope that is the answer to your question without having to search through the thread...

So I am calling this one ready to go unless we hear otherwise.
