Was just about to go into full production as a carrier borne dive bomber when France fell to Germany. 10 were built

Yeah, LDA is really meant for patrol bombers. The Helldiver is an anomaly (in so many ways!)

Late is a torpedo bomber and the Vindicator is American. Although the stats may be similar to Vindi, I think we should be able to come up with an SA that has some "French Flavor" like Elan.

Have to noodle on it a bit.

The Vindicator already has that. Actually, Elan would work. It isn't quite as good as Press, but it was meant to be a "French" SA. We gave it to the US Marine Buffalo, but that was an obvious cultural/tradition connect as well.

I agree the aircraft would have likely done ASW patrols around the carrier it is based on. In the game that ability seems to be more often given to torpedo bombers, but we missed that opportunity with the Br. 810. Two dive bombers have been given ASW attacks though. And the SBD-3 Dauntless has the ASW Bomber 2 special ability that was meant to cover the use of the Dauntless for ASW patrols around the carrier early in the war. How about that SA?

Finish Him Off - This unit rolls one extra attack die when attacking damaged Ships.

ASW Bomber 2 - Once per game, instead of making a Bomb attack during your Air Attack step, this unit can make a dice-2 ASW attack.

That puts two "once per game" SAs on the card which is not my preference. But at least one of them is the "first time" type that is easier to track.

If you think about where this would have operated off the Bearn (maybe) and Joffre in the Atlantic and Med it would almost certainly have been used for ASW patrols.

This is how most subs were sunk by aircraft early in the war. And many until the end of the war. They were caught and bombed while surfaced.

Couple of thoughts here;;

First i do like Weeds SA ideas does give some meaning to a pretty poor Dive Bomber; but it is French.

Second; what right does this thing have, having a Bomb value of 8, there is no mention of it having wing load ordinance

as with the Val and Stuka, which increased its bomb capacity, it seems more along the lines of the Skua's values.

Since France really had no Fleet air arm and the games French Vindicator was just a push to give Bearn play, which we know

will be a better choice than the Ln 401; why was no consideration given to still a viable improve version the Ln 42.

When you look at all this, its really Fantasy or Hypothetical so why not go with something that did exist and can be an improvement

to to game use and the navy.
