Going a completely different route for the Quickmatch focusing on the escort duties (and ready to be shot down)
What about: Convoy Close Escort: The sector this unit is in can contain one friendly ship above the stacking limit if one of those ships is an Auxiliary. AND Convoy Guard: Enemy Ships roll one less attack die when making Gunnery attacks against friendly Auxiliaries in the same sector as this unit.
-OR-
Convoy Guard: Enemy Ships roll one less attack die when making Gunnery attacks against friendly Auxiliaries in the same sector as this unit. AND Convoy Screen: If this unit is in the same or an adjacent sector as a friendly Auxiliary unit, this unit rolls one extra attack die when making Antiair attacks for this turn.
HMS Quickmatch 'Q' and 'R' class Destroyer Commissioned: September 1942 Decommissioned: May 1950 Displacement: 1,705 tons standard Length (OA): 358 ft, 3 in Beam: 35 ft, 8 in Speed: 36.75 kts Armament: 4 x 4.7 in QF (4 x 1), 4 x 2 pdr pom-pom (1 x 4), 6 x 20mm AA (6 x 1), 8 x 21 in TT (2 x 4), 2 x DCR (45-70 DCs)
Notes: Repeat of J class, but with only 4 x 4.7 in guns instead of 6, and 8 TT instead of 10.
Cruiser Guard: Enemy Ships roll one less attack die when making Gunnery attacks against friendly Cruisers in the same sector as this unit.
Cruiser Screen: If this unit is in the same or an adjacent sector as a friendly Cruiser unit, this unit rolls one extra attack die when making Antiair attacks for this turn.
Cruiser Guard: Enemy Ships roll one less attack die when making Gunnery attacks against friendly Auxiliaries in the same sector as this unit.
Cruiser Screen: If this unit is in the same or an adjacent sector as a friendly Auxiliary unit, this unit rolls one extra attack die when making Antiair attacks for this turn.
SA Names should be: Convoy Guard and Convoy Screen if you are keeping them as affecting Auxiliaries (existing SAs), otherwise you need to change the Auxiliaries/Auxiliary to Cruisers/Cruiser.
Would the Cruiser screen ability be once per game only or every turn. Using it adjacent as well as inside a sector would make it very strong for the latter.
We are on the right lines I think though with an AA ability for later war (Kamikazes etc.) and some sort of protection ability, regardless of the chosen unit type it would be defending.
Taking the liberty to post this units service history; its convoy SA's are not out of line; BUT
thats so much like an all ready done Royal Navy DD.
It did its yeoman convoy work; but when you look at its service record the last half of 1944 and 1945 in the Pacific
with the BPF thats not represented at all; representing at least part of that service game wise is so much more valuable to the Australian fleet in this game.
Its my last words on the subject, just seems if your going to give it some historical insight the convoy protection route minimizes its potential.

TARGET DESTROYER: This unit rolls one extra attack die when making Torpedo attacks against enemy Destroyers.
(from Nautilus)
That would probably be a solid 7 points alone and be different from what Australia has. Torps are rarely used against destroyers, but it could be useful, especially against LL.

Do we want to adjust Crusier Screen to being local rather than local and adjacent?
How are we feeling about Solo's suggestion of
TARGET DESTROYER: This unit rolls one extra attack die when making Torpedo attacks against enemy Destroyers.
