Where is the originality in that for Australian NZ units
Um... looking at the Australian and NZ destroyers:
Sub Hunter: 1 Destroyer - HMAS Arunta
Raider: 0 Destroyers
I'd say that's pretty original on a destroyer for either country.
Also, none of the Australian/NZ Cruisers have Raider either (though the HMAS Sydney and HMNZS Leander do have Raider Hunter) .
Not that its a bad idea for the unit;
Getting back to the SA's yes Raider and Raider Hunter are different but their are some similarities
One Aussie DD may have Sub Hunter but one has DD hunter; whats Raider have in it DD Hunter.
Again if that the way you want to go OK; But Australia starting to get that almost stand alone Build nice to see something different to help with that.
My initial thoughts could be if it ends up the Quiberon the SAs would be Desperate AA and Establish screen for its carrier escort screen role. If the Quentin then Sub-hunter but Arunta which already has Sub-hunter add Close escort would also be 1942 so the second SA would need to be different.
For Quickmatch, since it looks like Establish screen is going to be used on something else and if not wanting to potentially use it twice, what about something like carrier screen giving it an AA boost that way. Would then be case of a second SA (if wanting two). Either something to suit generally or looking at the other part of its history a bombardment SA or even a second defensive SA with guard the convoy. Regardless I like the thought of carrier screen which puts it on the road to being a defensive unit.
"That's right son, join the navy. Get behind a bloody big gun and knock the hell out of somebody"
"We went out, got our arses kicked, then came back again"
First, I think Quiberon had a more interesting overall career than Quickmatch.
But Quiberon put the final shot into Lupo. What if we gave Quiberon Finish Him Off - This unit rolls one extra attack die when attacking damaged Ships.
That is a big sexy SA for a DD and totally new on a Surface ship (I think.)
If in need of more, she could also have Rescue Operations.
unless I'm mistaken the Pacific career of either unit can be pretty much summed up as escort. Desperate AA is one thing, but it's also a OPG SA on a fairly standard DD platform. I get the pushback against Subhunter (it's been done...but it IS useful for DD's to have).
Establish Screen is a nice SA, but I will reveal it has been added to another Commonwealth DD for this deck already, and the justification for it comes back to the escort thing. It could get Carrier Screen instead of Desperate AA giving it a shot at a permanent boost to AA, but then you are putting a DD in with a carrier...which isn't always a good thing.
On the plus side, Commonwealth DD's typically have good performance for their cost. They don't really have any obvious weaknesses, but that can lead to a general sameness about a lot of them, which is a symptom too of this being the TWELFTH deck!
Javelin has Smoke/Subhunter for basically the same platform stats. At 7 Arunta has CE and Subhunter, but also has the 1/1/1 TT line of the Tribals but they are all nicely costed relative to other DD's. But Q-class is probably too robust for a 6 cost...particularly with no overt weaknesses. Saugunay at 6 has both the 1/1/1 TT and the lower VA (plus guns and AA). So definitely higher than her.
Inazuma is vanilla at 7 with the sweet TT line (and probably undercost by 1), but this is better at the ASW role (and still has solid TT and other stats).
I think a straight up Vanilla Q-class comes in at 7.

I'd say 6.5 vanilla. Really need to toss something on this to come in at 7 and see play.

What about just having:
TARGET DESTROYER: This unit rolls one extra attack die when making Torpedo attacks against enemy Destroyers.
(from Nautilus)
That would probably be a solid 7 points alone and be different from what Australia has. Torps are rarely used against destroyers, but it could be useful, especially against LL.
