This is not actually a new idea, and I really can't claim it to be my idea though it's something I've certainly thought of for quite some time along with several other people from what I gather. I am proposing (and plan to start creating) cards that are not units for the game. This would be an optional add-on to the existing W@S ruleset using non-unit cards to affect both fleet-construction and actual gameplay. These cards would fall into at least two categories for right now, though that is something that could be expanded on based on input from anyone who wishes to join me in creating this.
I've started a thread in the Houserules subforum with several ideas and rules that I've thought of. This is still pretty heavily in the idea stage rather than the "bring to life" stage, but it's closer than it has been in the past. Check it out:
