The first Opening Salvo of 2018 is the British Meteor F Mk. III fighter and the Japanese C6N "Myrt" reconnaissance plane.
The Meteor was a public pick. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A development team pick, the C6N Myrt is definitely something "a little different" for the game. It should be quite useful when playing with Distance Rules.
Myrt is an interesting idea; maybe its me had to read recon overstock a few times before it became clear;; Think this will grow on players Meteor; cheaper than Me262 but SA's not as good; Wonder with those SA's if the extra power at 3 points over your average pure advanced fighter is worth it.
I did a second take on the C6N1 Myrt when I saw the gun value. A cheap scout plane, and fighter when necessary. Even values for Meteor and Me 262. Depends on all the dice value on whether they abort one another or destroy one another.
Erwin Rommel - "Give me American supply lines, British planes, German officers and Canadian troops, and I can take over the world".
I personally like the Myrt. Maybe the dev team needs to pick the next pair.
Like the overstocking on a carrier really good idea;;but i think the jury is out on a SA only plane. Some other firsts; non PB with Shadow;; 5pt. 6-9 armor--vital;; 5pts for shadow. At first it seems a bit much to pay for just the SA's;;but if you feel the need for shadow without the other planes offensive gifts; it's the cheapest and toughest to abort.
The Meteor is like the real thing you see in the sky;; a bright light and than it fades to nothing.
I know the Forum wanted it; Its the Forums job to vote for garbage, but it should be the Teams job to throw it in the disposal, where it should have met some of it friends.
Love the Myrt, for when you need a cheap scout. Not crazy about the jets(they have no place in a sea game), though I'll doubtless paint some up to go with my 262's.
