Same here. That's why I only wanna do this ONCE. I've looked into Image Shack and also Postimage. So far, Postimage seems the "free" way to go...
Did you look at servimg.com? Postimage certainly has a simple interface, but I don't get how my images would be organized. Just randomly?
I've created "galleries" for certain categories so they won't end up in one big pile. There's a field and a button that says "Create new gallery." Give the new gallery a name and push the button. Within the Galleries you can sort by file name or by date uploaded. Enter the gallery before uploading photos tho or they'll go into your default gallery and I haven't figured out a way to move them around once uploaded. I might be missing something. I'm not 100% sure but it looks like changing gallery names doesn't break the link for the photos. I don't think the gallery is part of the path.
"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"
After successfully completing USS Tennessee in measure 32 Camo, I decided to go ahead and give the other ugly sister (California) a go. It's pattern 32/16d is a little more complicated adding a third color to the mix but I think it turned out pretty well. I'm also working on USS Yorktown CV-10 but it's not quite ready for pics yet. Anyway, hope you enjoy this California girl.
Just a quick note. I've switched my image hosting from Photobucket to PostImage postimage.org/ due to the the ridiculous fees Photobucket wants to start charging for that service. My image gallery is a work in progress though.
"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"
Did a little searching around and found this. It's called PostImage postimage.org/ and it seems designed just for our purposes. Here's an example. I need to play around with the sizing thing a bit but it does its job. It's FREE and it's Unlimited (see this FAQ postimage.io/faq.php).
Nuts! Looks like photobucket.com is no longer allowing free linking to images on their site. Anyone using any other photo sharing sites that don't charge? I tried Shutterfly and that didn't work.

The thing that saves it for me is that I never paid a ton of money for any of mine. Got in early enough that I never paid more than $20 for any ship. That said some of them do make me nervous now. If they make me too nervous and I really want to paint an example of a certain ship or plane, I go get one on Shapeways. Thanks for the input everyone. I was curious what people thought.

Question for the group. I know 8-10 years ago nobody would have any qualms about painting your Rare ships or aircraft, but what about today. On eBay some of this stuff is extremely expensive. I wouldn't paint my Graf Zepellin or my ME 109s or my San Francisco but I do have an extra Intrepid I'm planning on painting and I see some of them going for sale on eBay for $80! So what do you think? Would you paint your Rares? PS, I do have more than one Intrepid.
Thanks for the kind words guys! I'm really making a concerted effort to get my US ship projects finished up and photographed. As that happens I'll be posting them here. The encouragement keeps me motivated! After the USN I'll move on to the big push on the Japanese and the Germans. I'll never run out of boats it seems.
If anyone here has any tips on lighting these puppies for photography, I'd appreciate the input. These light colored areas on these ships just seem to blow out and loose detail. I've been shooting near a window with indirect light and a large interior light from the other direction. I'm using an iPhone 7. Thanks again.
