Okay, thought it's about time I posted something and since I actually got a couple of models finished this weekend, I actually have something to show you all.
First up USS Texas in Black Hi Def from Tiny Thingamajigs. I did a little modification to the second and 4th turrets, eliminating the MG galleries to depict Texas early war. Then I gave her the MS 2 camo treatment with turret top markings. I like how she turned out and she actually looks better than the picture. I need to work on my photography skills.
For the Japanese I have the Hiei. I purchased this one before Black Hi Def came out so it's in White Strong and Flexible. Took a while to get to it but I think it turned out well.
Finally for this thread a repaint of USS Tennessee. This is the original Wizards of the Coast miniature. In it's original form I found this one and California very hard to love. It was just fat and ugly. So, I took it apart and redid the paint at least so I think now she looks a lot better. Actually she was pretty fun to do and I'm looking forward to giving California a make over too.
Absolutely outstanding Fighting6, I fell in love with you Tennessee as soon as I saw it, such a neat crisp job you've done on her and I like a lady in a bright dress.
Lovely job mate on all of these.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I'm really making a concerted effort to get my US ship projects finished up and photographed. As that happens I'll be posting them here. The encouragement keeps me motivated! After the USN I'll move on to the big push on the Japanese and the Germans. I'll never run out of boats it seems.
If anyone here has any tips on lighting these puppies for photography, I'd appreciate the input. These light colored areas on these ships just seem to blow out and loose detail. I've been shooting near a window with indirect light and a large interior light from the other direction. I'm using an iPhone 7. Thanks again.

Well I think the pictures are fine for starters Fighting6, and your backdrop does heaps to enhance the picture, I think that's really important to the presentation of our miniatures and to be honest Ive never been happy with my backdrop, the stripy blue material I used to use really set the models off nicely but took too long to put up. Cameras, sheesh I must have paid well over $400.00 on cameras since presenting my models on the internet, and I have to say my I-phone takes better shots than most of them.
Lighting? Try turning that interior light off mate, you may be over-exposing the shot a little, I've found interior lighting is either too yellow or it lights up the whites like a bloody Christmas tree, since you are using natural light (and I do too) find a time of day where the sun isn't blaring through the window, you may need to experiment a bit to find the right time of day. Should ask Shinnentai his pics always turn out perfect I don't know what he does.
Not sure if any of that will help, but I think the shots turned out just fine anyway
PS: We all motivate each other, so keep on posting guys.
Just a quick note. I've switched my image hosting from Photobucket to PostImage postimage.org/ due to the the ridiculous fees Photobucket wants to start charging for that service. My image gallery is a work in progress though.

Yeah much better image host choice, it sold me mainly because it didn't flash up a hundred ads every time I cycled through pages, but mainly for its simplicity.
