The big difference seems that the ffg games its optional to play with the app. I know guys that are happy to play the "dm" because it's fun.
Is the app for the u boat game a necessity?
The app is a necessity, as it alerts players of watch changes, ship sightings, time elapsed, repairs needed, etc. However, time can be compressed or slowed as the need dictates, and it will also have a pause function.
It seems as though several details are still in flux - I'm curious to see the price point too. I was very glad to see that the designers are not holding back "exclusive" content, but that all backers get all stretch goals.
I'm also a big Armada fan - my local game group enjoys it very much. I myself have fount the articles on the "cannotgetyourshipout" blog to be very fun and informative, and has added a lot of depth to how my group and I play the game.
Thanks Brigman! I am humbled by how well-received they've been. I recently acquired a few more planes, and have a pair of 190s that are not quite ready for some "toothpick touch-ups," though I will be sure to share pictures when they're "airworthy."
Having just completed my most recent "patrol" of BGG, I saw this game that many here (especially the W@S crowd) may love. UBoot is a cooperative board game that uses a real-time app as the adaptive ai opponent (but is a board game, not a video game). As much as I can go on about my excitement, I will finish by posting the BGG info link and the kickstarter preview link (opens Jan 22 - calendar marked)!
Thank you for migrating these, BoomerBill! I've been away for a while getting married and building my house, but was pleasantly surprised to see these upon returning.
