In this Opening Salvo we present two ancient dreadnaughts and introduce a new minor Navy to the game. Both were development team picks based on board requests.
Brazil officially entered the war on the Allied side in August 1942. Brazil had already been cooperating with the United States including the build up of two of the largest US military bases outside of the US at Recife and Natal. Minas Gerais was built in Great Britain just prior to WWI and was one of the most powerful battleships in the world when commissioned, and was deemed in good enough condition to warrant an extensive refit in the early 1930's.
Yavuz has been requested by a small but very vocal group of fans almost since the game was introduced. Why? I have no idea! A pre-WWI ex-German battlecruiser, she was refit several times between 1930 and 1941.

Well if Shapeways doesn't have them ; i'd try Home Depot; 30 penny nail should do, with Zinc Oxide coating to help with rust;; unless of course you like an historic look. In the good old days they would call this, two wasted slots; but thats why it was called it the good old days.
Shapeways has Minas Gerias and War Times Journal has a 1/1800 sms Goeben
We're nearing bottom, war at sea 4. Get used to seeing stuff like this (that lots of people want) as well as more fantasy and more operational variants.

You are right of course. But war at sea 4 still gives me a good chuckle.

On a more serious note; We are no way near the bottom. Thats just an excuse to create this pile of Rust. Its a lot easier to make this crap than to be challenged and come up with units already in use; but changed enough to be; Competitive--Widely Playable and not Obsoleting its Parent unit. This deck with its limited reveal as already gone though the Twilight Zone of Fantasy; I guess thats were the real ingenuity lies. R2D2 -- C3PO on the team. Many say RB opened the door; but the only unite he should not have made was Montana. The rest of his Fantasy units helped the game become more completive and balanced. Expansion has Gone One Step Beyond or should; or i say too many steps in that direction and that includes this junk. These kinds of units are for the very cable card makers like SWO and Brigman not The Sea God TEAMS, they are not individuals or small cohorts; But a group that represents the Forum and the games longevity; it doesn't have to expand the game to include all the world and its possible units; Let the individuals do that. Some off the best units out of the Sea Gods were units already historically and game established but improvised, adapted and made too over come apathy.
Rust Buckets and fantasy ships are the two ends of timeline stretching, that cannot be avoided. Nice scenario pieces addition. In the old timers, there is a what if window that was already open, ie ships that would have existed if Washington and London treaties were not signed. There are some interesting yet to see. I'd be a fan of the Normandies (original class on which Bearn was based).
