Deck 5 Opening Salvo - Painlevé and Caracciolo

Believe it or not, development of Deck 5 continues to move along. Shin has been quite busy in the "real world" so we thought it was time to show you some of the "heavy stuff." Both of these capital ships were chosen by the public forum vote.

French Fleet carrier Painlevé
Planned sistership to Joffre, these carriers would have very likely operated US lend-lease carrier aircraft just like the Royal Navy. Some Foruminians were disappointed Joffre did not have "Wildcat Operations" so that has been addressed with Painlevé. We also added Dauntless operations to give the French assess to a better dive bomber. Expert Torpedoes will help the French-built Br. 510 torpedo bomber, and complement the Expert Dogfighter and Expert Bomber 2 on Joffre.

Italian battleship Francesco Caracciolo
Another Foruminian public pick, Francesco Caracciolo was laid down at the start of WWI, but was not completed because of material shortages and low construction priority. She was finally launched after the war but ultimately broken up for scrap. She was designed to be a "fast battleship" contemporary to the Queen Elizabeth class. More like a battlecruiser of the period, the planned speed of 28 kts makes her a nice battleship to fit the Italian lineup between the rebuilt Cavour and Doria class BB's, and the modern Littorio class BBs.
