About a year ago a group of Forumini members pooled our resources and obtained the rights to all of Baron's exceptional map files. These maps are individual works of art and as a bonus are awesome to play on with a play area of 6'x6' when all the sections are combined.

As a gift to the Forumini community the group decided to make some of the files available to everybody to print and play on. We do ask that you do not use these map files for commercial purposes.

With that I will be releasing the maps every couple weeks-

This is the Low Countries siege map, one of the last ones Baron finished. IIRC, the purple hexes play like bluffs/cliffs. Would love a higher-res image, this is the best I have and I have yet to find an affordable place to print it.

Here's the demo image of Alexander (similar images are all I have for Silver Fox and El Alamein) - hope someone else has the real thing. What do people recommend for getting these printed? Is there any option you know of to print Baron's maps in something like a usable format for less than $100?

Looks like it's been a year since I was around this forum, and the images I uploaded to this thread all disappeared.

I did end up getting the Low Countries map printed and using it, it was pretty cool. Wasn't cheap to print. Can maybe upload some pictures again when I get a chance if folks are interested - is anyone else still using Baron's maps?

Just for a preview, here's a photo of my current game in progress, using Baron's Normany map. There's a bunch of house rules and such going on here (a stock of Legos is always helpful as a substitute for obstacles, boats, counters and other stuff that's not worth spending the minis budget on). This is the view from the Russian sector of the battlefield.

Has it really been three years since I was active in this forum? Wow. Still actively playing the land game whenever we can. The Baron maps are still the map of choice. Here is a fairly full view of the Low Countries Siege map in action.

Wow, that is cool. I still play every week and rotate between AAM, WaS and AAAF. We play over the phone and set up mirrored forces and maps.
I haven't used barons maps for several years now, but have used them a few times in the past. I hope to use them again but we need to use generic maps that both players own and can put on the table. I guess if I played with Audacity again (we played several times over the summer) we could use them since we both own them.

Looks like you use lots of custom units and terrain.

A lot of the custom-looking units are just stuff we play as pillboxes, barbed wire, boats, ammo dumps, and other standard parts of the game that we didn't want to pay to buy in bulk. The tiles represent distinct national army setup zones. What's unique about the terrain in the Low Countries map is that we use rules for elevation at different levels of the fortress - need movement rolls to go up (or down, for vehicles), shooting up levels gets penalized, or at some points blocks line of sight. Been doing the game for years now with my son, but he's grown & moved out now, so harder to set up these major house-ruled games that run for six weeks at a time.

Thanks. I may ping you, there are still a couple of his remaining maps I never got. I did go with a site called Banners on the Cheap for a custom map of my own I made with Hexographer (IIRC, these are 3x3 hexes), it's not pretty like Baron's but it came out really crisp and playable.

When printed at 3'x3', the hex size is about 2.75". 2'x2' would be marginal at best for a playing size.

I printed these on glossy photo paper and they have held up well. Just store them out of the sun. I have heard of people printing them on vinyl banner material, but that tends to be an expensive option.
