This came up, do A/C with an SA of Night Fighter or any other SA that gives you a benefit at night give you the ability of landing on a CV at night. Once individual said that no die roll is needed and I say NO. A roll of a 1 means you crash. Saw nothing in the rules giving you a benefit when landing on an airfield or CV. Help
Their ship their coffin The cruel dark sea their grave.
According to the 2010 Rulebook, on page 46 under the Advanced Rules for darkness "Air Return Phase: All fighters, Dive Bombers, and Torpedo Bombers returning to a Carrier or to your land airbase make a recovery check. To make a recovery check, roll a die. On a roll of 1, the unit is destroyed. Patrol Bombers don't need to make recovery checks."
There are no plane SA's that allow a unit to avoid this recovery check, but there is a Carrier SA (Night Operations) that states "Aircraft that return to this unit do not need to make recovery checks". To my knowledge this was only on the USS Independence for the Team Poseidon deck..
