Which of the big 7 Navies lost ground on the other countries after the team decks? Not necessarily the weakest of the big 7 but maybe a country would have been ranked higher before surface action and was surpassed by another country below them after the team decks.
The soviet union was 7th and hard to make a fleet with beforehand but you could do so easier now so I wouldn't say they lost ground as much.
Also this is just a discussion point not criticism.
I think Italy has been left in the dust. They had a big advantage over the UK in 1940 by having Sparviero and Picchiatelli while the UK had no fighters. Up until 1943 they had the sub advantage by the availability of Ambra and Leonardo da Vinci (their whole submarine line) from 1940 onward while Truculent is 1943. And if you’re playing Italy in 1943 you are already giving up far more than you are gaining. Both of those advantages are gone with multiple fighter options and sub options now in the Royal Navy.
What did Italy gain in the trade off? Espero is excellent. Their super fighters are welcome but fall short in weird ways, like the Veltro’s missing Advanced Fighter. MAS MTB is the best torpedo boat. Colonna makes the top tier of battleships available to the Regia Marina. They got a nice line of submarines and there are some gimmicks that are fun to play in RAMB and Lupo. Alcione makes Sparviero even better and Teulada is the ship that the top tier cruiser in the navy deserved to be.
All told, the team mission has been kind to the RM but what they gained isn’t as good as what they lost.
I was thinking similar they got some nice pieces but their core units like the sparv, CN, best cruisers etc are from wotc and they don't have the 6 hull BB most have (which is fine as this game at times is too much about having the 6 hull/best BB so personally I like to do the opposite).
I would also maybe surprisingly put the UK on the list, they got some nice early war units and vanguard, seafire is nice but they didn't really add any new dimensions mostly similar stuff to what they had i could play them with all WOTC units and not miss a beat.
I mostly agree except for the aforementioned holes. The UK was well set up for faction vs. faction as Wizards printed the game. The holes were with fighters, late war aircraft, and the one-dimensionality of having just one sub to play. And of course the late war aircraft thing is easily remedied by playing the rulebook rule that they can base US planes.
Benefits from the team sets otherwise include better AA, top shelf fleet carriers, and Lancaster (if only for the meta).
On the other end of the spectrum France (and of course others) did quite well pretty much their full wish list ; good sub, 6 hull, modern carrier, better air units then what they had, variety of good BB's/cruisers/destroyers for more options.
I think the pecking order has pretty much remained the same but obviously the decks have added a lot more options across the board. Most of the gaming gaps for nations have been filled, though still niches to be found alas St. George giving the UK a top tier heavyweight to slug it out with the rest. Plenty of 'historical' gaps still to be filled though and for me this should be the focus going forward, not so much on obscure ship or aircraft variant types just to fill the slots. The above mention about the original UK wizard slots is bang on. The paucity of good early war at sea aircraft was understandable to some extent as this reflected the actual reality the UK found itself in. Where as the neglect of UK subs was a bit of a disgrace and I'd argue the UK has still not fully caught up in that department. The number of UK slot allocations in one or two of the wizards sets were below par and the subs took a hit for that and there was no sub in one team deck. I'd love to see a deck with two subs to catch up a bit but I think the big ship/aircraft at all costs fans would be against it.

"We went out, got our arses kicked, then came back again"
I agree with Gaz01. The decks have filled out a lot of our needs and niches for the game.
(For me it's Vickers Wellington and HMS Renown)
I would like to see any classes of ships & submarines not included yet in the game. Also more reprints for those that have lots of miniatures in their collection.
I've been tinkering on a 100 sister ships, submarines, auxiliaries and aircraft list since before Covid

I think this new set helps out the UK and Italy immensely. They both get a lot of good units...
