I'd be interested to play a game where one is optional—they definitely focused my fleet building (at the expense of aircraft—that won't matter much for my Italian game, but for the U-Boat game we'll see how the dice fall)

I'd like to hope that we can get a sweet spot where players don't treat it as a commander game, but just another option to consider over a extra fighter or sub

Recognising the threat of uboats torps was my starting thought. I couldn't make mtbs work though lol
Commander: This unit is attached to a friendly ship in the deployment phase. If that ship is destroyed or removed from the map, this unit is removed from play.
Aggressive: All flagship values on friendly ships are negated and you get -1 on your roll when rolling initative.
Breakout: Local friendly ships have +1 when making a concealment roll
Does this +1 concealment stack with other special abilities ships have?
Three things that I ask the playtesters to consider and answer while/after playing the game:
1) Does it feel like you have to take a commander when building your fleet? 2) Do you would feel at a disadvantage if you didn't have one playing against someone that did? 3) Do you feel that depending on the commander you are facing it changes you tactics a bit so you focus on killing off the enemy commander first?

Thanks for sharing these!
So far: 1. No 2. To be seen 3. No—commanders (so far) have not been a unit I have felt the need to target, though I think Flak tried to knock out Hartmann in our first game, and I sense that I am going to have some trouble taking out Waller in my game with Scheerluck
