Comparing WaS miniature print origin

I recently received my color USS Princeton from Shapeways. I decided to compare the new color Shapeways to the old WSF painted by me and the original WotC injection molded miniature. Note that my miniature is actually of USS Sangamon because I did not have and Independence class custom paint. So don't compare the shape. I showed these three to my son who has a fine arts degree in drawing and design and asked him which one he liked best. He actually chose the WotC miniature! He liked the more curvy sheer on the hull and the slightly oversized details like the AA guns. But he thought the color printed model was also very good except for the layer lines on the sides. Mine was last because of the rough surface texture.

I would choose the 3D color print for gaming if the cost wasn't so high ($42.00). I might apply a flat coat to take off the shine. I do like the resin plastic they use for the color. If I could get that in plain white for a competitive price I would switch to that. It is finally a plastic that gives good detail but isn't too brittle.
