My first Shapeways giveaway for the new Forumini board is the Soviet destroyer leader Tashkent. Known as the "Blue Cruiser", Tashkent was built in Italy under contract to the Soviets. The Soviet navy intended to build sisters locally, but differences in shipbuilding technology canceled that plan. For some reason the Italians delivered Tashkent painted in a distinct bluish color. Some older references say it was Cobalt blue, but that seems very unlikely. That would have been a very bright color for a naval ship. Conway's says it was a sky blue color. More recent references say it may have been the standard gray used by the Italian navy that has a slight bluish tint and thus looked blue in comparison to the neutral gray Soviet ships. That's a possibility, but many navies had a slight bluish tint in their standard gray and it isn't strong enough to really stand out as notoriously as the accounts of Tashkent would suggest IMO. Virtually all naval colors are a light gray base tinted with color. I decided to use the Italian navy "azzurro" (light blue) used in their camouflage schemes as a middle choice. Model is by C.O.B Constructs and Miniatures (squint181). Base by Reacher.
You can enter if you have not won a miniature in one of my monthly giveaways in the last six months or won a previous Tashkent from me. (If you have a mini from me by any other means like a contest prize you are still eligible.) According to my list the ineligible contestants are: trs, Solomiranthius, RAEVSKI, Goerdeler, Stalker6, and Rocktroll (and the same guys here if they now have a different username.) All others are eligible. If the prize is not claimed within two weeks of the drawing I will roll the die again from the same list of participants.
Note I am waiving the "you can't enter if you joined the board after I started this thread" for this contest since we have a lot of people still in the process of moving over. Since I am starting a little late, I am also extending the entry time to the next week.
Also, I am not sure if we have a dice roller here yet. If not, I will roll the virtual dice in a Tashkent thread post on the old board when the time comes. Hopefully that will be worked out soon. Whew, a lot of housekeeping on this one!

before Monday, May 8th, 2017, 8 PM US Central Time (2:00 am GMT). I will compile the list in order of posting as usual, and then roll for the winner Tuesday night, May 9 th, around 9:00 pm US Central Time.
