I was just looking at this card from deck E and I was surprised to see it SLOW 1. These were fast destroyers when built 34 knots. They had lost some speed by ww2, but I didn't think it was down to 22/23? Was this due to something particular to this ship or were the whole class this slow by 41?

When they were adapted for escort dutues, many were modified to extend range by removing some boilers and machinery

Ah yes, that makes sense. So the unmodified 'Noviks' would still be speed 2. Perhaps we need a Yakov Sverdlov at some time in the future?
Valerian Kuibishev maximum speed was 24 knots according to Soviet Warships of the Second World War. 24 knots is the top end of the Slow 1 category. Speed 2 is 25 knots and above.

I'm surprised it had lost that much speed. Soviet Destroyers of WW2 by Alexander Hill has a specific reference to the VK. It has it at 30.5 kn in 1932 and then 28.75kn by 1941?
