I am offering up an AAM miniatures prize for collectors on this forum that can provide details or facts regarding the Canadian landing at Dieppe Aug 19, 1942.
Rules as follows:
Must me a member of this forum as of today
Must provide a meaningful detail or fact regarding the disastrous Canadian landing at Dieppe in 1942.
It must be an original detail/fact concerning this raid. IE you cant repeat someone else's fact it must be different knowledge from earlier entrants.
All eligible entrants names will be placed into a RCN hat and randomly drawn by my completely impartial wife, if I can convince her to be in the same room as me.
The prize will be a collection of Dieppe Raid type units that will help a new players journey into the abyss or enhance an experienced players world war II world to include the Dieppe raid for...fun. I am excited to pick units for this prize and proud to remember the real heroes in this world.
There will be a focus on units that fought in this battle but not strictly followed (proxy units for example). I have lots of extra commons and I want this to be fun and educational.
The deadline for entries is Jan 31, 2021. Draw will be held on Feb 1, 2021. No joke
Good luck. I have 14 books written about the raid on Dieppe. Impress me.
Here is an example:
The Canadian GOC for the Dieppe raid was General Roberts. He called for elaborate pre- aerial bombing and heavy naval support, but Mountbatten (who was the chief planner and in charge of all these special operations) cancelled the support.
General Roberts was fired and discharged while Mountbatten was promoted. Go figure.
There are many facts about the planning but any info/fact will count including facts about the German defenders or other Allies.
Grgbobe has started off with a good one about the memorial plaque. Thanks to all. I will keep a running list for entrants:
Grgbobe (obviously)
oaklander
mnnorthstars
bartok
MyGarandDoesMyTalking
Carrion
Audacity
Boomerbill
Norfield
SgtFury
