I own a couple of 3D printed ships for War At Sea, but have only tried (re)painting a couple of aircraft. Squint181's 3D offerings caught my attention, and I bought a few. This is my first attempt at doing some tabletop-worthy A&A ships. I was happy with some results and less than happy with others. Those of us who cannot freehand the flattop stripes bow down in awe before those of you who can! I like the prints. I am delighted with the Forward Air Strip (foreground left) and Advanced Naval Base (foreground right). Between them, a bit washed out by the bright natural light, is the HMCS Prince David. I kept the painting simple, so grey metal surfaces and brownish decks. That's the USS Vestal and the HMS York in the second row; the HMS Jervis Bay (painted in civilian colours before its final battle with the Admiral Scheer) and the USS Indianapolis in the third row, with the HMS Enterprise just beyond and to the right of the Indianapolis. And the carriers are HMS Argus and USS Independence (fourth row) and HMS Hermes and USS Ranger in the fifth and final row.
Not sure that I will paint something like this ever again. Those of you who can paint deserve our complete admiration.
Those who don't remember their history are bound to do something or other...
