first of i was looking at the Nagatsuki, and i realized that it is a missed opportunity. she has Meh stats, however she costs 9 points. Its pretty disappointing. forumini.wikidot.com/nagatsuki
secondly I was thinking about a SA to make the Omaha class Playable (Rip Richmond) for my deck i was working on. I was thinking something like The Ability the Tone class have. Fire Directer, At the start of Your Surface Engagement phase you may choose a ship within range 5 of this unit. If you do Friendly Cruisers and battleships roll one extra attack die when attacking that unit.
During The time he Omaha Class were being Built they were intended to be used as scouts for the Battleships. Do note most American Cruisers do not have torpedo, However it is a nice boost for some. what do you guys think?
I always thought excellent spotting would be a good SA for an Omaha since they were designed to be scout cruisers. Also a speed bases SA since they were designed for 35 knots. Both are SA's the USN doesn't have.
Regardless of intended use, by the time WWII rolled around these cruisers were dogs. Looking at the gun line and the torpedo line it's clear that these cruisers were inferior to everyone else's light cruisers. Casemated guns really limit what these can be.
But yeah, if you want to put whatever SA you would like on your own cards, definitely go for it. I'm not going to say that you can't or shouldn't jazz up your favorite units for your own games. I have a Sackville card that's buffed up to 13-15 dice or something like that.
I'm with mnn on this. (Maybe we have been developing together too long?) They were old (not bold) by the war, yet, for personal/local cards ... do what you want to do!

WotC seemed to overvalue point scoring SAs like Tokyo Express, which led to a lot of units that have them feeling overcost compared to others. There is zero reason to take Nagatsuki when there is Terutsuki at 9 points.

Dunno, Swizz, seems like we disagree about as much as agree. You're wrong all the time, except when you're right.
Think we're being a little rough on our 2 Omaha's;; Compared to the other 9pt.CL's they ain't that bad Euryalus;;Dunedin Cardonia;;Emden;;Bande Nere;;Tenryu;;Ukraina;;Java;; Flag sure helps with Initiative

I get what you are trying to say here; personally I wouldn't take an Omaha over any of those in an open game except Emden.

You know what the Marblehead says " You may not know who i am, but i never leave home without Richmond"
