This is a picture guide to flipping the island on HMS Glorious, which as we all know, was infamously produced by Wizards with its island backwards.
Step 1: Gather your tools
You will need:
1 kitchen towel
1 small but strong pair of pliers
1 tube of modeler's glue (Testors in my case)
1 hairdryer
1 backward's island HMS Glorious
A sink
Step 2: Heat the island
Take your hairdryer, set it to high, and place your HMS Glorious about an inch or less away from it. It has to be this close in order to sufficiently heat the entire island and melt the glue. For me, this process around five and a half minutes, for others it may take less.
Step 3: Pull the island off
This is the scariest part of the whole operation. Take you pair of pliers and set edge the kitchen towel inside the pliers so that the pliers do not tear or damage the island. Using the pliers with the towel in between, FIRMLY grasp the base of the island and PULL. I cannot stress this enough, but you CANNOT be gentle or holding back here. You have to give this thing a very strong yank. One tip that may help was I had a family member hold the carrier down to the counter while I pulled the island upward. The end result may be different for different cases. Sometimes the pegs in the carrier will come out, sometimes they will tear off in their slots. It shouldn't make too much of a difference, as your island will still be "glue-able".
Below you can observe my result. Note the pegs stayed in their hole on my ship, but again, as you can see, it is not a big deal. It will still work.
Step 5: Water
To cool your island and carrier, turn your sink on to cold water and put the island and carrier under. This will accelerate the cooling process and prevent you from having to worry about damaging the hot island.
Step 6: Re-gluing
Now, take your cooled island and carrier and dry them off (the kitchen towel works here too ). Fill the base of the inset of the island lightly with modeler's glue (I used Testors, but whatever modeler's glue you have probably works). I also put a small dab on the underside on the island. Then, line up the island (now with the correct side facing forward), and place it firmly in the slot. Make sure everything is as you want it and let it dry for several hours.
And tada! You now have fixed your HMS Glorious!
