This is a case where you have to break the rule: when the Axis is working its way through the mountains of Yugoslavia looking for partisans. The only "Allied" units you will have are: Yugo partisans, maybe some Greek Mountain troops/Greek Soldiers, the odd Communist partisan and one or two British officer advisers. Having said that, there will be few vehicles for the Axis -- some Italian tanks and German trucks. Mostly Italian troops and some Germans, maybe a German officer. It would really be an infantry event. Want to run one on Sept. 15? I have all of the aforementioned to contribute...

That sounds like an interesting mix of troops there Bill. Adding the Greeks is a good idea & probably even historically correct. With British Commanders in the action, you can toss in some Vickers MG's for a little added punch. I agree that it is a situation where you need to break the limit rule & just go for it.
If you try it out, please post an AAR & share your builds & results & thoughts on how it plays/etc.
Just might want to add a Greek Officer as well, to get an extra attack die with "Tides of War". As long as you keep destroying enemy units, the Greek Infantry gets 2 extra dice with "Fury", making them 9/7 vs enemy Soldiers & with the Greek Officer they become 10/8 three point SS Grenadiers just not Ruthless...not bad at all. I think the Greek Officer would also give the Partisans an extra die as well, that certainly would help them too I reckon since the "Tides of War" effects adjacent friendly soldiers....looks like some playtesting needed here...
What does anyone think of this? Maybe a map with lots of hills. Communist Partisans & Yugo Partisans cannot be adjacent, historically they did not get along so no interaction with them. Set-up the Partisans on opposite sides of map, IE one on East side other on West with Greeks & British in central area, Axis normal deployment but not adjacent to any Partisans. Allies/Partisans set up first.
Think this will work?

"Heroes, Paratroopers & Partisans are treated as special units. Special units are limited in the total number you can take by sceario. In a standard scenario, special units are limited to two per 100 points."
Question: Does that mean that a single nation Yugoslavian build is only a Partisan Infantry and a Partisan Commander?
I look at the Yugoslavians and think, well, the Greeks would help them. And there were British (and Soviet) "advisers".

I agree that there needs to be a limit on Heroes and Paras, unless a custom scenario is played. I have done this a few times with good success for a balanced game. Otherwise the "official rule" helps keep things balanced. I have also created some very cool Partisan games where most units were partisans. One game in particular had three forces: Communist partisans, Yugo partisans, and Germans. Historically the two partisan forces hated each other and in my game they were required to attack the enemy partisan if they came in range. The main objective was to slow the German forces from advancing across the map but it was fun with the two partisans fighting each other. Can be played with three players.
Bet that was a unique & entertaining game by the sound of that Special Rule. Did the Germans fight both Partisan armies? Was there a winner....or a tie or sumpin...
Don't get me wrong, I love heroes and paras. But they need to be balanced. Not only are they strength 5/5 they also emerge on the map. Very convenient. Therefore unless I am creating a custom scenario I follow the rules. BTW= out of the two "specials" per 100 points, only one can be a hero.
My three way partisan scenario had the Yugo partisans using some crappy Italian armour and weapons and British help. The Communist partisan had some minor USSR help. This was inspired by a book I read on the subject several years ago.
I thought that I posted an AAR but maybe not. Played with Dogtank a year or two ago.

Yes the Germans fought both partisans. They were simply trying to get a convoy of troops and materiel (ammo, HQ, and fuel) across the map but had to fight any and all partisans to get through. If the ammo, HQ, or fuel dismounted out of the Opel trucks they could be used by the Germans but not cross the map for VP's.
I played the game twice with different outcomes
Would like to play again.
It is hard to develop three player games, but this is one that was really fun, historical, and balanced.
I agree to the limit on Heroes & Paras with Airdrop Capabilities....you can get a US Line Airborne Platoon, the Captain, 2 Squads, a BAR & M2 Light Mortar for31 points, deploy normally. Air Assault scenarios certainly are fun too.
Partisans shouldn't be so restricted, I have enough in my collection to have fun with....the Greeks are fun too...fire 'em up with Fury & Tides of War & turn 'em loose
Sounds like could have some games, wish we were closer....such is life...
