Had a few back and forth's about Operational Units; especially Akagi so i thought i but my views out there for any one to
read or chime in.
Answer to Flacksturk;; Is the MI Akagi done to acceptable Forumini guide lines YES; Never a Question
Should it have been done??
Here comes the many Questions I have;;
1 How do you look upon game??
For me, some of the little quarks we all drool over i think give the game Intangibles!!!
Examples; the Wildcats 9 Vital;; Fletchers 3 Armor;; P-40s 5point cost;; Akagi 4 hull Kaga 5 hull plus a few others.
Take Intangible to mean what you want, but for me Counting Been to make perfect units does not necessarily make a great game.
I think we all were drawn to WAS with all its faults and loved it. I see a brighter future with Operational's done different
2 How you look at Expansion or New Units in general;
Many players make new units and are very good at it; so if you like them all and thats not enough your in heaven.
I personally gravitated to the Team Decks because of the word TEAM and the expected bright looking future they brought to a game gone defunct.
Tell me if I'm wrong but i believe some strong Team guidelines were put in place;
No Errata -- No Refits -- No Replacing Originals -- First Year of Entry -- Use the Value Guidelines the Forum had already established and posted.
I could never although i've heard the reasons why understand No Refits and Its obvious No Replacing Originals has morphed to Operational Units
Its easy to see the limitation this puts on Capital Units.
My point or question since the making of these Operational units is;; isn't it time to maybe view them in a different light, they are a good way to move forward
with tremendous potential for those Iconic Capital units.
Some say the units we do obsoleted themselves anyway;; that was RB's doing it shouldn't be ours;
no matter how slim the use of those RB units we should do the same as he did leave a little avenue of use.
What is done is done;; it doesn't mean its of the line;; some different views open to discussion i think can make those Iconic Capital Units relevant again.
The Teams have done well working around RB's genius and pitfalls but if your going to make redo's of Hood -- Graf Spee -- Zuikaku -- Bolzano -- as they were
you have already taken a big step into the unknown. I personally don't have a problem moving on Iconic Capital Units just leave that one avenue for the Originals.
