I've been painting these piecemeal for a few years now. I'm definitely no Picasso, but they turned out well for the most part. I consider this the Black Sea Fleet
Soyuz, Stalingrad, Kronstadt, Izmail
Parizhkaya Kommuna, Frunze (Battlecruiser), Soborna Ukraina
Krasnaya, Pyotr Velikiy, Izmail (CV Conversion) Rodina
Petropavlovsk, Molotov, Voroshilov, Chapayev
Murmansk, Krasny Kavkaz, Chervona Ukraina, Bogatyr, Avora
Nicely done Squint! I think of all of the ones you have made on Shapeways I like your Krasnyi Kavkaz model the best. It just seems to be extra crisp.
The maddening thing about shapeways, sometimes the print is excellent, other times not so much. I do have the Baltic Fleet in the works, but my deck paint has dried up since the last time I used it.

Yeah, that one looks like what I assume to be a horizontal (parallel to the printer deck) orientation. The edges are usually much sharper. Vertical orientation prints are softer, but have smoother round surfaces. I tend to prefer the ships printed horizontal and aircraft printed vertical. I think that is what is going on. There are definitely two distinct print "styles."
