The Fi167 is in-game for people that want German Carrier Aviation. Otherwise, it really doesn't belong in the game at all. (This from the leader of the German National Club!)

I still see it played mainly for the carrier capable ASW.
Fighter strength to me is a big factor and I think the whole category is under cost. 39' Spit at 5 points is certainly not going to help.
In fact when you look at things I think most categories are wrongly cost Auxiliaries/DDs/CVEs over BBs/BCs under. The best balanced are probably the subs and to a slightly lesser extent the bombers/cruisers.
The top end costing's has certainly squashed the bottom end and I've always thought doing 0.5 points (instead of round numbers) might have been a way to go, although I understand the added complexity this could have added.

"We went out, got our arses kicked, then came back again"
The main strength of the Fi-167 should come from its amazing low-speed characteristics, which don't show up in its stats at all. For example, in one flight test, the pilot brought one of the prototypes head-on into the wind, came to a dead stop in mid-air, dropped 9800 feet straight down (not a dive, the plane remained level), then gunned the engine and flew off. Apparently, the Fi-167 could land almost vertically (again with a head-wind) and remained under control at speeds well below the stall speed of most contemporary aircraft. It seems to me that, at the very least, it should have the same "Deceptive Target" SA as the Swordfish I.

I agree with brass, I think the "Deceptive Target" SA is a good fit for the Fi167. My research on the Fi-167 verifies brass's suggestion. I realize that the Fi-167 is considered a fantasy unit, but 12 were in fact made. Besides one of the basic reasons for the hobby of war gaming is "what if".
