This is just way too cool! This is the project that I have been working on since I found this game a couple years ago. I have been working on it ever since. I have a million questions. I will start with the simplest. How big is the layout? I was planning on a 4X4 sheet but I thought maybe I might have to expand it to 6X6 or 4X8
I'd be glad to lend my experience to help you out.
For starters, my set up is about 4' x 8'. So yes, you will have to scale up.... maybe. Actually, I think you could pull off something similar without taking up as much table space. But that is entirely up to you.
Let me know what you'd like to know next.
In the meantime, those conventional forces I promised.
First the modern land forces:
Next, the air forces:
Finally the Navy:
I have more aircraft and army units, but I wanted to limit it to particular types of units. One type of tank, fighter, truck, artillery, tactical bomber, etc...
I'm working on rules for each unit currently. Movement, attacks, special abilities, stuff like that. I'm getting closer to launching a custom Godzilla game. I pretty much have all the buildings, monsters, and military units I need. I really just need to work on a little story and the game rules.
I would not mind getting a little feedback from willing members of the forum. I want to make sure the game has balance and there are a lot of experienced wargamers here.
The will follow a naval officer from a young enlisted man in the 1940s using War at Sea pieces into the modern era as an admiral using the pieces above.
One of the things that Inspired this little project was a Nintendo game, Godzilla 2. It was based around the military trying to fight off monsters using just conventional weapons and A-10s were one of the few units the player had at their disposable. You didn’t even get a mech to fight with.
The best weapons you got was either the Super X2, SY-3, or a Maser cannon, and usually not at the same time. The A-10s were the tactical bomber for the game and were great against monsters that could not hit flying targets easily.
Anyways, I was really lucky with the miniature masers cannons. I just happened to run across those while browsing e-bay. I took a chance buying them out of a random lot and it turned it they sized up perfectly with the tanks and trucks I already had. I guess it’s better to be lucky than good.
The maser tanks on the other hand I actually talked a shapeways buddy into making for me. Again, that was more luck than anything.
