I'm thinking about repainting my Staghounds to represent some of the Cdn units in Northwest Europe. I've seen a few two-tone vehicles, and even one suggestion of the Mickey mouse ears camo on some Staghounds. Any thoughts?
Those who don't remember their history are bound to do something or other...

The Mickey Mouse camo was mostly used on softskins in the european theater. AFVs did have a camo pattern but it wasn't frequently used due to resourses. Sometime in 44 the british stopped repainting the lend lease equipment acquired from the USA and left it OD green. Typiclly Tanks were a mono colored in a (Vellajo: WWII Russian Uniform #924). Paint colors from photos are difficult to nail down because the lead based paint they used faded rather quickly and became a lighter shade of the origional color. I have Mike Starmers book "British Army Colors & Camouflage in the United Kingdom, France and NW Europe 1936-45", a great resourseyou should pick-up.
Since the Photobucket debuckle Ive given up trying to post photo's on the net using third party sites. Please follow this link to the underground where I have posted an excerpt from Mike's book. axisandalliesunderground.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2426
Boomer I would just wing it and paint something that pleases your eye, but if you want to go official check out the link I provided above.
Been there, done that more times than I care to remember my friend. Best of luck to you when the project resumes. If they look good, mine might see a repaint as well.
