I didn't get into this game until it was just about to go out of print. I have always been more into the ships/minis as opposed to the game. I've been hit with the Shapeways bug and have been trying to find and then paint minis for all of the expansions and for some of the WOTC pieces that I didn't get. Seeing all the great custom paint work on this board has been great! However, the highlight has to be finally winning one of Weeds' giveaways. Really fine work and sparked me to keep on collecting and even perhaps roll the dice once in awhile. Unfortunately, a result of winning a Weeds mini is that I've realized that those Reacher bases look really good and I just might need a few. Or perhaps more than a few!
I've been thinking about getting shapeways stuff and Reacher bases for a while, but boy that sounds pricey (I'd probably want duplicates of certain units for pre and post modernization stuff, for example USS West Virginia)

I hear you. Reacher does great work and I highly recommend him, especially since this is only a side hustle for him. Basing definitely increases your investment. Considering the minis aren't that cheap, you definitely need to think hard before jumping in. I have to say that I think some of the Shapeways sculpts are fantastic, better than the original WOTC.
