Greetings Foruminians -
Long time reader and first time poster here. I dabbled in WAS around the time that the last expansion set (Surface Action) was released, but through several cross-country moves over the past few years my collection has been lost to the sands of time. (When I was last active in this game, I was able to assemble a 100 point Italian fleet via individual piece orders from 12-7-Games for about $10. Count the number of things in that sentence that aren't true anymore!)
With extra time indoors given world events, I now find myself with some time and desire to get back into WAS. Unfortunately, I am in the position of rebuilding my fleets from scratch. My question for your collective mind is - what is the most efficient way to build up fleets in the year 2020? Reviewing threads here, it appears that eBay lots can be hit or miss but maybe the best way to scale quickly. Many of the stores I remember from the old days (like 12-7) are gone, but I have found a few places that still carry individual pieces. The prices for unopened booster packs for WAS that I can find are very high, so that seems not to be an efficient option over acquiring individual pieces. (Though it does seem there are some affordable AAM boosters still out there - I've never played that game and might give it a try too.) My end goal is to get to a few playable fleets, maybe with a flashy piece here or there but mostly to be able to spend an afternoon on the high seas of my kitchen table like the good old days.
Any tips and tricks would be much appreciated!
