It’s early 20th century Europe and the end objective is to hold control of a majority of Europe. There is no luck what so ever, and without alliances you will lose.
I believe the game of thrones boardgame is based on diplomacy the game at it's core but a more modern advanced take of it
Yes it is. Diplomacy requires people skills and tactical maneuvering, hardly any of it is luck based. You defeat enemy forces on the basis of position and numbers, not dice.
Our group has the game, its been around for 30 years or more. We don't play it often because you need a full complement of players to really make the game fun. Its a crazy, backstabbing, throat slitting, double crossing game but its pretty fun
