Yeah I guess with the ki-61 and a bit more variety the Japanese are better. Has anyone figured out how to get around the 2/5/2 weakness a lot of their main units have ?
One thing I read to fix 2 hull planes is to say they don’t get crippled. They are either undamaged, damaged, or destroyed. Would that make them more appealing?

Certainly wouldn't hurt. With turning being their advantage you almost need to play a tighter/smaller map to make it harder on everyone else
Here is something related , what is the most balanced nation matchup in AAAF?
Germany vs USA Germany vs UK Italy vs UK Finland vs Russia Germany vs Russia China vs Japan ??
I think AAAF because it's cheap $ wise is easier to get new people into so I might try and start playing or showcasing it at these gaming cafes they have in Brantford. Then if people get addicted show them war at sea as well.

Good idea. I might try taking AAAF into one of the game cafes in KW.
Those who don't remember their history are bound to do something or other...
IMO there are many balanced options available and the key is to balance the forces. FW's against most French planes is a slaughter for example. But, Italy, early German, Finnish can match very competitively against France.
Bomber scenarios, ground attack scenarios, ship assaults, dog fights all offer great options for balanced games.
Custom cards exist for many non AAAF aircraft too.
